Le Glow: Make it POP!

Make it POP!

Alright Ladies and Gents,

as you may have noticed from my last post, I am obsessed with a good Highlighter!
I am sure many can relate to the warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you dip your fan brush into that brand new Highlighter and apply it to your cheekbone. I am also sure that many can relate to the feeling you get when you dip your brush into that brand new Highlighter aaand... (That's the heart wrenching moment you realize you just spend 40$ on a pretty compact containing baby powder).
To prevent these situations from happening, I am going to tell you guys about some of my favorite Highlighters! These babies are beautiful, blendable, beaming and first of all suitable for a wide variety of skin tones.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in OPAL

I have been using this Highlighter for a long time now, it is perfect for times I want to achieve a subtle overall glow or a slight shimmer on the highpoints of my face (TIP: I like to dap this product on my shoulders and collarbone in the summer time also).

The Shimmering Skin Perfector by Becca comes in Powder and Liquid form. For a subtle glow I prefer the liquid version, if you want a more intense Highlight I would opt for the Powder version.
OPAL is a champagney, neutral Highlighter that is not too cool or too warm which makes it perfect for a wide variety of skin tones! There are no chunky Shimmer particles in the formula so it wont enhance any of your pores (Nobody wants that!)
The formula is very light and blendable which is what makes it look so beautifully natural.
With this product a little goes a long way, I like to mix a small amount of it into my foundation to give me that "Glow from within" or apply some on the highpoints of my face for days that I don't want to wear foundation but want to make my face look refreshed and lively. I think that light to tan skin tones can get away with wearing this Highlighter without foundation, deeper skin tones should look into BECCA's Shimmering Skin Perfectors in Topaz or Prosecco Pop which are a bit deeper and absolutely beautiful (Disclaimer: I am going to talk about Prosecco Pop in powder form in a bit!).
This Highlighter now comes in new packaging and retails for 41$ at Sephora!

    Nars Highlighting Blush in Albatross

An Oldie but a Goodie, Albatross was the first Highlighter I have ever bought! I loved how it looks white and not all that impressive in the pan and then blows you away after swatching it on the skin. Now, this Highlighter is not subtle at all, it is beaming, completes a full face of makeup beautifully and makes a statement!

Okay, this Highlighter is for everybody that love a beaming cheekbone that can be seen from miles away! Albatross is extremely pigmented and is more on the yellow/ gold side. I think that this Highlighter looks amazing on medium to deep skin tones with warm undertones! Really fair skin types should look into the Highlighting Blush in Nico by Nars, it is more on the neutral side and lighter than Albatross. This Highlighter is perfect to accentuate the highpoints of your cheekbones, nevertheless, I would stay away from using it on cupids bow, nose, forehead or chin since it can come off as a bit intense in these areas. If you like an intense glow, this one is for you! Retail price at Sephora 30$.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle

Soft & Gentle has quickly become one of my favorite Highlighters! I use it almost everyday and it completes a natural but put together look perfectly.

Look no further, if you like peachy, pinky, golden tones I got you covered! Soft & Gentle is the perfect everyday Highlighter because if its medium intensity. It is very buildable and blendable and layers well with other Highlighters. Its formula is relatively smooth and does not accentuate pores. I really like to use it with a damp brush to make it melt into the skin. If you use it wet it will give you a completely different look than when you use it dry. When used dry the pinky tones come out beautifully, when used wet it gives you more of a cool tone and glistens in the light. This Highlighter can be used on all highpoints of the face and suites pretty much every skin tone perfectly. This baby is definitely worth trying if you are looking to give your everyday makeup the special twist.
Retails for 33$ at MAC.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Mineral Blush in Prosecco Pop

And another beautiful BECCA Highlighter! As promised, here the perfect option for medium to dark skin tones with warm undertones! I have been obsessed with this Highlighter since the day I purchased it, it is intensely pigmented and looks great on the skin.

Prosecco Pop is a great Highlighter if you are looking for a product that is going to elevate your makeup game. It is extremely pigmented and the formula is buttery soft. I like to apply it with a densely packed brush to guarantee that the pigment gets distributed evenly and the color is opaque. I like to layer this Highlighter on top of other Highlighters such as Soft & Gentle to give my face the extra "umpf" and warmth. Beside the fact that the product performs beautifully, the gold/ silver packaging is another plus in my books. Prosecco Pop is definitely an eye catcher that is not easy to put down. If you are on the fairer side I would recommend looking into the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl which is more of a white, iridescent glow. Go and check it out...
Retails for  38$ at Sephora.

I really hope you guys enjoyed my take on some of my favorite Highlighters and hope you will try some of them for yourself!
