Find of the Month: e.l.f. Poreless Face Primer

If you are even just a little bit like me, regular trips to Sephora and other high end stores are essential for your happiness and sanity! Nothing feels better than wandering through the aisles, swatching products, ignoring skyrockingly high price tags and eventually making the purchase that will hopefully elevate your makeup game by more than just a few notches.
Nevertheless, during one of my most recent trips to the drugstore I made a discovery that turned out to be deserving of the title "Find of the Month". Who knew that between Soymilk and salted nuts, hidden treasures can be found...

e.l.f cosmetics is known for their large variety of product to affordable prices, but how good are they? I decided to have a closer look at the e.l.f. Poreless Face Primer and put it to the test!
The Poreless primer is part of a three product primer range, including a Hydrating and a Blemish Control Face Primer that retail for 5-10$.
Since I have larger pores and tend to get shiny throughout the day, I decided to go with the one that promised to make my skin blurred, smooth and flawless to perfection!

Details:
First things first, the Primer comes with a practical pump which is always a plus in my books!
The texture is thick and silicony like most pore refining primers. It goes on clear and only a small amount of product is needed to cover the majority of the face (YEAY, no waste of product CHING CHING !)
I noticed that the scent of  Tee Three oil in the product is pretty potent which can be a deal breaker for some. Nevertheless, the oil is supposed to clear and restore the skin. If you are not sensitive to strong scents, this should not be a problem for you.

How I like to apply it:
As I mentioned, I like to use the tiniest amount of product with this primer. I find that if you use too much the product can be absorbed properly and might "ball up" when mixed with foundation.
Rub the product between your finger tips to warm it up and make it as spreadable as possible. Instead of rubbing, I like to press the Primer into my skin; I find that the pores are being filled better and the skin looks smoother this way. Also, I like to only put the product on the areas of my face with more prominent pores, but that is more personal preference than anything. Applying it all over the face will give you a flawless canvas that is perfect for when you are going for a "full beat" face.
Extra Tip: I like to apply a little bit to my hands if I know that I am goin to shake a lot of hands. The Primer will do the same thing for your hands that it does for your face and makes them super soft. Also, I would recommend applying a small amount on the back of your hands for photographs. I think that especially for engagement pictures or close ups the pictures come out a lot better if your hands look blurred, smooth and photo- ready!

So how does it wear?
I find that the primer keeps my makeup in place for the majority of the day. I would say that the mattefying, blurring effect lasts for about 6 hours before I start to get slightly shiny. I think that it is quite comparable to some of my higher end primers, especially for the price point!

My recommendation:
I think that the e.l.f Poreless Face Primer is a really great and affordable option for people that would like to blurre and refine their pores. If you are looking for hydration or color correction I would try the other two primers in their line. All in All, I really like the product, it definitely does the job and can keep up with quite a few higher priced options.
